I’m done with Amazon (and its branches: Audible and Kindle)
Amazon (or more specifically, Jeff Bezos) consistently comes up on the wrong side of everything good and decent.
For example, Amazon:
- …exploits workers and fights unions
- …provides data services to ICE, CBP, and DHS
- …is a major donor to the Trump administration
- …exploits authors and crushes independent booksellers
Instead…

But…
But…but…but… I have a Kindle!
There are lots of options to the Kindle ecosystem and my books are available on all of them:
- Hardware options: Rakuten Kobo, Barnes & Noble’s Nook, and others.
- Software options: Apple Books and Google Play Books, for example.
You can also “sideload” books to your Kindle by emailing an EPUB to a special address. Here are complete instructions on how to do this. Once you figure this out, you also get access to the entire Gutenberg library of free ebooks!
But…but…but…I subscribe to Audible!
There are lots of options to Audible: Apple Books, Barnes & Noble Nook, Kobo, Storytel, Google Play, Spotify, or Audiobooks.com.
